Invasives Have NO Boundaries
It seems over the past several years more and more invasives have started appearing in our region. It doesn’t matter if it is in the water (didymo and whirling disease, or New Zealand Mud Snails), vegetation, or bugs that wreak havoc on trees and crops—invasives continue to arrive in our country.
The Spotted Lanternfly is in our area!
The Spotted Lanternfly (Lycorma delicatula) is native to China and was first detected in Pennsylvania in September 2014. Read the article about the Spotted Lanternfly in the Baltimore Sun or USDA APHIS.
Zebra Mussels in the Chesapeake Bay
It is up to us all for slow the spread of this invasive. Please see the DNR webpage for the latest location information and if you fish, boat, sail or play in that area, please take proper precautions to slow the spread!
