APRIL 26th and 27th = SUPPORT THE AFFTA FAMILY & YOUTH CASTING CALL + JIM RANGE NATIONAL CASTING CALL @ FLETCHER’S COVE : VOLUNTEER!!!!Monday, April 20th, 2009
Join TU staff and DC area volunteers for the American Fly Fishing Trade Association’s (AFFTA) Family & Youth Casting Call & the Jim Range National Casting Call at Fletcher’s Cove in Washington, DC, April 26 & 27, 2009. TU is an active partner in planning the day’s events, and we are looking for volunteers. From teaching kids to fish to manning registration tables, we will need many volunteers to make each day go smoothly. This is also a great opportunity for TU volunteers to educate Congress, the Administration and the public on fisheries and aquatic habitat issues. If you are interested in volunteering, please go to www.nationalcastingcall.com/volunteer. If you have a specific area that you would like to help out in – education, fishing instruction, etc. – make sure that you note it in the comments section so we can get you scheduled to help doing something you are most comfortable with. All volunteers will receive a complimentary Redington fly fishing shirt for their efforts.Sunday, April 26: AFFTA’s Family & Youth Casting Call
This action-packed afternoon will give metro-DC residents a chance to fish and to learn more about fish and fishing from some of the country’s leading experts. The Junior Ranger Badge program, fly tying instruction from Family Tyes and hands-on exhibits from participating partners will give families the opportunity to explore, learn about and protect one of our most precious natural resources.
Monday, April 27: AFFTA’s Jim Range National Casting Call
This event is designed to educate our nation’s leaders on the importance of conservation by taking them fishing on the Potomac River.
What better way to highlight the importance of fisheries conservation than by spending a day fishing on the banks of the Potomac River at Fletcher’s Cove in the heart of Washington, DC.
We hope to see you there,
David M. Rogers
