Electroshocking Patuxent below Brighton Dam

Received from Jay Sheppard on Thu, Nov 1, 2007

I just received word that DNR is going to do a fish survey on the main Patuxent River below Brighton Dam next Tuesday, Nov. 6. If you are interested in participating, be at Brighton Dam parking lot at 9:00 AM with chest waders on and ready to go. Suggest Polaroid glasses. Do not wear shorts under your breathable waders, as the sweat will make the electrical connection from the survey probe directly to your skin—YIKES that tickles!! Bring lunch and something to drink.

This is a new trout fishery that we (PPTU) have been trying to get started, but have been largely thwarted by the repair work on the two dams over the past 2 summers. This work created very low and warm flows. We hope once the repairs are completed, we will see a possibly convenient sport fishery develop….the regulations are No-Kill and Flies Only. This is an opportunity to at least see some portions of the stream.

PLEASE Do not reply to me….I am not coordinating this. Also, I cannot make this date. Only a few volunteers are needed, so do not take a day off of work unless you wish to do so, etc.

Cheers

Jay
